Welcome

Hello and welcome. I have created this blog to provide an insight account of my journey to stage my second show garden at this years RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. Share all my highs and lows as I make preparation for the garden to be built as the countdown to 6th July 2009 begins.

Thought whilst I'm at the computer might as well give an update on how things are shaping up.

Less than 40 days to go till we can get our marker spray and spade's out and start digging our site, and its around about this stage what with less the 6 weeks to go that the excitement and reality starts to build. Whilst everybody I know especially at the school are getting really excited about the garden, myself on the other am feeling the pressure especially as on Monday I met with Chris And David From Bushy Business to run through the day to day planning of the garden, and despite going into the meeting thinking that most things have been sorted and arranged, I left feeling that there's still a long way to go and lots to do between now and the 22nd June. All the main parts of the garden are sorted like the water feature, trees, hedging, plants is just the small stuff to organise and finalise, but hey if I didn't like the pressure I would have never have agreed to do the show and am confident that every thing will be sorted by the end of may.

Had another meeting today this time with the school who have so kindly supported me throughout, especially letting me take over the school, using the playground's and spare ground to construct and grow things for the garden. At least one thing is sorted and that's the manning of stand during the week the shows open so thanks to all the staff who have kindly volunteered their services, I just hope they know what their letting themselves if for, i.e standing with me for 5 hours or more. Hopefully the RHS will let some of the junior school pupils down to the show to talk to the public and help promote the school which will be a nice day out for them. At least I can tick one thing of my list of things to do.

I'm off tomorrow morning for a meeting with the company supplying my wire balustrading, finalising all the necessary details so hopefully that will go well and then spending the rest of whats left of the week working and trying to sort out the backing material for my sedum matting, so still no rest for the wicked.

When I get some time over the weekend I'll try and post a brief explanation of what happens during the show and how we are only in competition with ourselves and not others gardens as many people think. Till then if you wish to leave any comments for me just click on the word comment at the end of this post. Thanks again for following my progress.
